Why did you choose ESBI?

I always wanted to be an electrical engineer. I knew ESBI was one of the best engineering companies in Europe and I wanted to further my career with them.

Tell me about starting in ESBI?

I felt really comfortable when I started working in ESBI. All my colleagues were friendly and willing to help me whenever I encountered work issues. The atmosphere made me feel great about working with ESBI.

What did you think of the Entry Level Graduate Programme?

The Entry Level Graduate Programme is a brilliant programme which gives you an overall idea of the company; offers a good opportunity to learn from senior staff member's experience; and helps you to understand what an engineer does on a daily basis.

Tell us about your current role and team?

I am currently working with the Conflicts and Arbitration Team. We look after all issues regarding high voltage transmission lines e.g. if houses are to be built adjacent to High Voltage Overhead Lines, we will ensure the maximum permissible clearance for the development after site investigation and calculation.

My role is to solve power line crossing issues and Tower Footing Resistance Measurement generally. I have also been involved in a couple of power line diversion/alternation projects.

How does ESBI foster your career development?

I am continuously been trained to become a professional engineer through a lot of courses, such as the Graduate Entry Level Programme, Negotiation training, etc. I have also had a lot of on-the-job training from our in-house experts. All together this has developed me both personally and technically.

Why would you recommend ESBI to Graduates?

ESBI looks after its staff really well. It also has perfect training programmes to suit staff's needs. All the senior staff are very supportive.

Is it all work and no play?

Definitely not. We have various social activities and a lot of sport clubs.

Can you give us a feel for the culture of ESBI?

An equal and supportive environment.

What tips would you give to a graduate starting out?

Relax and enjoy work.
