What is your educational background?
Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering; junior trades as a Fitter; senior trades as a Toolmaker; honours degree in Mechanical Engineering; and currently doing a Masters in Renewable Energy.
What attracted you to ESBI?
The mix of the energy industry and its engineering challenges - a constantly expanding home-grown company with international travel.
How has your career developed since joining ESBI?
I have evolved from the Graduate Engineer Programme and gained Professional Engineer status since joining ESBI. Currently working towards Chartered Engineer status.
What have been the highlights of your time in ESBI so far?
The international travel; learning a lot about Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plants; and working with different cultures and people.
Are there any further qualifications you have obtained since joining ESBI?
Professional Engineer status. I am also learning Spanish and studying for a Masters at the moment.
Can you tell us about your overseas experience?
I worked in Corby (UK) for a year on plant familiarisation and training. I am currently in Amorebieta (Spain) for the last year on a specific maintenance project which can be applied to other ESBI power plants.
What did you gain most from working overseas?
The exposure to how plants are run outside of Ireland; the energy markets and tolling arrangements; and the issues and challenges that they face on a daily basis.
What is the most rewarding thing about working with ESBI?
The opportunities that constantly present themselves.

Can you give us a feel for the culture in ESBI?
I have encountered a culture of professionalism, enthusiasm and a workplace where hard work is rewarded.
