ESB International - T&D Detailed Design
ESBI has developed significant experience in all aspects of distribution and transmission systems design as we designed ESB's system nationwide. As a result we have an expert team who provide these services to power utilities worldwide.
Our services include the preparation of planning, permitting and licensing submissions; drawing upon expertise from other areas of ESBI as necessary.
We have also successfully deployed 3-D digital terrain mapping to assist in the permitting process as well as developing "consultation models" for the permitting of linear assets.
High Voltage Overhead Lines
We have considerable expertise in planning, designing and overseeing the construction of overhead transmission lines at voltage levels up to 400kV. We operate across a wide range of technologies and operating environments, and focus on delivering solutions which optimise long-term asset performance for our clients. We work extensively in Ireland for our parent company ESB and for many years have also been delivering major transmission projects for international utility clients, predominantly in the Middle East, Far East and in Africa. We also provide a full range of engineering consulting services relating to overhead line connections for high voltage electricity infrastructure such as generating stations, wind farms, and transmission and distribution substations. Substation Technology
ESBI T&D Group produces primary and secondary design of substation systems. Our depth of experience and expertise offers the following benefits:
- Significant expertise in the areas of substation protection/control.
- Rigorous testing before deployment as we maintain our own in-house laboratory.
- Offer a choice of solutions by integrating different equipment as we are independent of any manufacturer.
Underground Cables
Underground cables are increasingly deployed as a means to overcome the difficulties of overhead lines. ESBI provides the full range of services for cable circuits from MV to 400kV including:
- route selection
- circuit design
- installation
ESBI is developing its expertise in submarine and HVDC cable technologies in response to the increase of off-shore wind farm development.
We also prepare planning and permitting submissions including applications for foreshore licenses.
