ESB International - Generation Portfolio

ESBI's generation portfolio includes power generation assets in Ireland, UK, Spain and Pakistan.

Amorebieta, 755MW CCGT - Basque Country, Spain

Bizkaia Energia Power PlantThe first internationally owned power plant to be developed in Spain, jointly owned by ESBI and Osaka Gas of Japan and financed and supported by a consortium of international financial institutions. The gas supply to the plant is supplied by Shell Espana under a tolling agreement and ESBI O&M Solutions manages the operation and maintenance of the power station for an initial twenty-year period. The 755MW plant is based on two GE 9FA gas turbines in a 2-2-1 configuration and it uses an air-cooled condenser.

Coolkeeragh, 400MW CCGT - Derry, Northern Ireland

Coolkeeragh ESB Power PlantThe combined-cycle gas turbine plant at Coolkeeragh was developed by Coolkeeragh ESB Limited, a partnership between ESB International and Coolkeeragh Power Limited. The station was commissioned in June 2005 and is being operated and maintained by ESBI O&M Solutions in line with best international practice for power generation stations. Responsible for operating, developing and financing the project, ESBI provided strategic development services including techno-economic modelling, system operation and cross-border electricity trading analysis. The 400MW plant uses GE 9FA gas turbines and dry low-nox combustion for higher efficiency and reduced emissions.

Corby 350MW CCGT - Northamptonshire, UK

Corby Power Corby 350MW CCGT power plant was one of the first independent power plants (IPPs) to be constructed in the deregulated UK market. ESBI owns, operates, maintains and trades the output of the Corby Power plant. The plant was commissioned in 1993 and consists of 2 Frame 9E gas turbines in combined cycle, each with an ISO rating of 119MW and an additional single turbine rating of 114MW. ESBI O&M Solutions has acted as operation and maintenance contractor from its inception.

Marchwood 840 MW CCGT - Southampton, UK

Marchwood Power PlantThe Marchwood CCGT plant was commissioned in December 2009. It is jointly owned by ESBI and Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE). The power plant operates under a tolling agreement where SSE will supply gas to fuel the plant and purchase the plant's electricity off-take for a period of 15 years. The configuration is multi shaft (2-2-1) with Siemens V94.3A type 4 combustion turbines in combined cycle.

Rousch 412MW CCGT - Punjab, Pakistan

Rousch Power PlantIndependent Generation has an 7.5% share in the Rousch power plant at Abdul Hakim, Punjab, Pakistan. Rousch Power Plant was commissioned in 1999. ESBI, in addition to its role in developing and financing the project, has a twelve-year contract to operate and maintain the plant. The plant consists of two Siemens V 94.2 combustion turbines in combined cycle with two heat recovery steam generators feeding steam to a single turbine. Fuel for the plant was initially residual crude oil, however following a gas-fuel conversion project, the primary fuel is now low BTU gas. Power is sold to the state-run utility WAPDA by means of a long-term power purchase agreement.

Synergen, 408MW CCGT - Dublin, Ireland

Synergen Power PlantThe Synergen Power Plant was one of the first independent power plants (IPPs) to be constructed in the deregulated Republic of Ireland market. The plant was commissioned in 2002 and is being operated and maintained by Utility Operations & Maintenance Services (UOMS) - part of the ESBI O&M Solutions business - in line with best international practice. The plant utilises single-shaft Alstom GT26 sequential combustion gas turbine technology, with gas as main fuel and distillate back-up.

Wind Farms, 154 MW - Ireland and UK

Wind turbine at ESBI´s Derrybrien Wind Farm in Ireland. ESBI owns a number of wind farms in Ireland including 60MW Derrybrien wind farm, the 12MW Carnsore wind farm and the 31MW Mountain Lodge wind farm. Additionally, ESBI owns a 25 MW wind farm in West Durham in the UK.
