Bahrain - Owner's Engineer Services
ESBI won an open international competition for the provision of Owner's Engineer services to Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) Bahrain for the next five-year phase of its electricity transmission development programme.
Cyprus - Support and Technical Assistance
The project included providing expert advice to Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) across a range of business and operational areas in support of EAC's restructuring, re-organisation and strategic development programme.
Georgia - National Transmission Management Contract
In December 2007, ESBI successfully completed its five-year management contract for the Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE), the national electricity transmission and dispatch company of Georgia. The World Bank praised the key role that ESBI played in the "dramatic improvements" in GSE since ESBI took over control of the company in 2002.
Ireland - Engineering Consultant to ESB Networks
ESBI has carried out system studies, planning, civil and electrical design, materials management, site supervision, commissioning, technical assistance, contract and project management for ESB's €4billion upgrade and refurbishment of its networks and support systems.
Jamaica - Coal-fired Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant
ESBI undertook a pre-feasibility study to investigate the feasibility of converting the existing oil-fired combined heat and power generator to coal firing. The study considered the two alumina sites, a number of plant options, the upgrading of port facilities, increasing rail capacity, examining grid capacity and construction site access.
ESBI evaluated the technical viability and economic basis for the project, We also provided a feasibility analysis which enabled the client to make an investment decision to proceed.
Kosovo - Utility Management Contract
In 2007, ESBI completed a thirty-month turnaround management contract for Korporatea Energjetike E Kosoves (KEK), the vertically integrated national power utility of Kosovo. Over the period of the contract, coal production increased, available energy increased and revenue collection substantially improved.
Namibia - Gas to Power Project
ESBI was appointed as NamPower's technical advisor for an 800MW power plant. The power station will use gas from the offshore Kudu field to produce electricity for the Namibian electricity market. This project is currently under review by NamPower.
Norway - CCGT Development
Technical assistance to StatoilHydro with the development of an 800MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant at Tjeldbergodden, utilising post-combustion carbon capture technology to minimise CO2 emissions.
Qatar - Transmission and Distribution Feasibility Study
ESBI carried out a techno-economic feasibility study for the relocation of high-voltage overhead lines and primary substations in developed areas.
Romania - Rehabilitation of Fundeni and Iernut Substations
ESBI provided engineering consultancy services to Transelectrica, the Romanian power grid owner and operator, for the rehabilitation of Fundeni and Iernut substations. The rehabilitation and upgrading works included substation design, high voltage equipment, control, protection, telecommunications systems and quality assurance.
Saudi Arabia - Saudi Electricity Company, Western Region Control Centres
The project involved providing consultancy services for the upgrading of the existing regional control centres in the western region and the restructuring of the control centres to provide integrated, co-ordinated control for the entire western region.
South Africa - Consultant to Eskom Enterprises
ESBI is the lead technical advisor and project manager in the construction of 2,000MW of open cycle gas turbine power plants. ESBI played a significant role in fast-tracking the implementation of this high-profile project, which is considered a critical capacity addition for South Africa.
Vietnam - Hai Phong 1,200MW Coal-fired Power Plant
ESBI is providing Owner's Engineering services to the Hai Phong Joint Stock electricity company. ESBI has played a central role in steering the project from initial inception at a greenfield site, through to construction and commissioning, with the first phase expected to be complete in 2010.
Vietnam - Nhon Trach 450MW CCGT
ESBI is providing Owner's Engineering services for the development of this 450MW combined cycle gas turbine power project for PetroVietnam.
